New Haven Screening

Ninja Zombies is set to screen in New Haven, CT on July 16, 2011!

2 years in the making. A grassroots funding campaign, a completely volunteer cast and crew and countless hours spent in front of a computer has all come together to create this film and it has finally has arrived!! D-Prov Productions would like to welcome you and yours to a night of comedy, horror, action and bromance.

Doors will open at 8pm -- The film will be shown at 9:30pm

Tickets $10.
21+ (Valid ID required)
(Those under 21 may be admitted only with a parent/guardian)

When you arrive at the event make sure to tell the bouncer you are here for the Film and you will not be charged the bar cover at the front door. Ticket purchases will be made at the entrance to the ballroom.


A Q&A with the filmmakers and an after party will follow the screening. There will be a cash bar until 2 AM.

Our new trailer is finally done! Please check it out and help spread it around like a zombie apocalypse by sending it to your family and friends, posting it on your facebook walls, tweeting the link, screaming the URL at your neighbors... whatever it takes!

The more views we get, the more appealing the film will be to festival programers and movie distributors!

Making a New Trailer

Now that the flick is nearly complete, it seemed like a good time to generate some more buzz. We figure that the better our numbers are in terms of facebook fans and trailer views, the better the film will look to film festival programmers and potential distributors.

Hopefully we will get the same kind of viral effect that we got with our first trailer back in December, with bloggers around the world posting it on their geek, movie, and horror related sites.

I plan on sharing the youtube link (rather than vimeo), so it should go up in views much faster. Our last trailer would not upload to youtube properly for some reason and the audio was out of sync no matter what I did. And yet, the youtube version got more views than vimeo, even though we weren't actively promoting it. With any luck it will upload correctly this time and with the help of our fans we can make it explode all over the interwebs.

This trailer will focus more on the action of Ninja Zombies, rather than the horror or comedy. (or bromance) For inspiration I looked to the first teaser for Sucker Punch. Say what you will about the movie, but that teaser was badass. I especially love the way it used jump cuts in time to the music.

So when will I finally post this new trailer? Don't worry, you won't have to wait long...

Ninja Zombies Coming to Pasadena, CA

On Tuesday I mailed a screener (of the incomplete movie) out to the Action On Film Festival in Pasadena, CA and on Friday they let me know that we've officially been accepted! We went there last year with our short film, Underground Sonata, so we know it will be a great time. I think this time will be a little different, though, since we are coming with a feature length film. One difference so far: this time I was contacted by a staff member in filmmaker relations who had a list of interview questions for me to answer and a request for hi-res images that she will be using to make a press-release. Sweet! I updated a couple of our posters for the purpose...

In 2009, Moviemaker Magazine named the AOF Fest one of the 25 Film Festivals Worth The Entry Fee. Here's what they had to say: "Action is the name of the game at AOF—both on the screen and behind the scenes. “We have changed a number of filmmakers’ and writers’ lives by getting them deals, selling their work and assisting them with taking leaps they never thought possible,” says AOF director of operations Nick Covington. Chief among the lucky moviemakers is Mark Mahon; four years ago, his unproduced script, Freedom Within the Heart, was named Best Screenplay. Today he’s making his big-screen debut as writer-director of Strength and Honour, starring Michael Madsen and Vinnie Jones.

Sure, the fest also offers $75,000 in cash and prizes, but also very valuable to all attending moviemakers and writers is the promise of walking away with a video interview—including film footage—to add to their electronic press kits, as well as guaranteed acceptance into the fest for future work. (It always pays to have a ready-made screening opportunity.)"

You know the semi-animated fable scene from Harry Potter 7 part 1? Well that's what we're going for here, and the completed "Legend of the Hell Sword" scene will blow you away!

Ninja Zombies Film Festival Debut!

Good news, my ninjas!

Ninja Zombies is an Official Selection of the 2011 Litchfield Hills Film Festival! http://hillsfilmfestival.org/

Our screening will be on Thursday, April 7, at 2:00 PM. Tell everyone you know! Since this is probably the only film festival we’ll go to in CT, it will be a great chance to finally show all our friends and family…. in an actual theater! I know it’s a tough time slot, but colleges might be a great place to start for drawing a crowd! If anyone can help out by posting flyers, it would be much appreciated!

Getting into a festival is a big honor and gives our project a lot of legitimacy in the film community. It’s also a ton of fun! We get to show our movie to an audience familiar with the world of low budget and independent film, which tends to be a very appreciative crowd! Then we get to mingle and network with other people in the industry, not to mention see their films, too! There are receptions each night of the festival as well as after parties to hang out with all the other filmmakers!

Some of us went last year and we all had an amazing time!
